BACK ON MONDAY. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND.
Dwell in possibility
When I started thinking about this Daily Thought I was sitting outside on my stoop with
a steaming cup of coffee, listening to the birds, a choir like no other, so early in the
morning. The birds know no boundaries and can go wherever they want, there is
always food available somewhere. Endless possibilities. I don’t think they are like us
humans, waking up in the morning with a plan of action and a to-do list. All they need
to do is sing their praises in the morning and survive the day. That is about it.
Matthew 6:26 came to mind. “Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor
reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not
worth much more than they?”
We as humans are a bit different. We plan ahead and always have something to do,
and there is nothing wrong with it. But the question remains, do we need to know
precisely what is happening, or exactly where it is all going? What you need is to
recognize the endless possibilities and challenges offered by the present moment, and
to embrace them with courage, faith, and hope.
You are daily surrounded by all sorts of future possibilities. You are submerged in
various forms of present value. Most of us are filled with curiosity, passion, ideas, hopes,
dreams, preferences, and love. We have the good fortune to possess knowledge, skills,
experience, intellect, and awareness.
Now, just for a moment think about this. What will happen and what potential is there
when you combine all this. What you will have in front of you is the opportunity to fulfill
the unique potential that is your life.
I have endlessly quoted these words, that life happens, and it does. But you have the
opportunity to combine every joy you’ve ever known with every disappointment or
setback you had and allow this mix to encourage and push you forward. The
possibilities, in theory, are endless, but it is up to you to push on and give new
expression to all you care about, all you remember, hope for, and imagine.
Roy T. Bennett reminds us to turn our obstacles into opportunities and our problems
into possibilities. This is possible when we open our eyes, open our minds, open our
spirit, and open our hearts. We must learn to feel and experience life in its entirety and
remind ourselves of the spectacular promise we hold in our hands.
Never compromise who you are. Be the true you. Be authentically who you are but also
completely embrace fully who you can be. There is no greater privilege to be
authentically you and to live your best possible life and that is your portion right now.
You can make it happen.
In the words of Tina Fey, “It will never be perfect, but perfect is overrated. Perfect is
boring.”
Today, commit yourself to, from now on, to dwell in possibility.
