TAKING A BREAK - WILL BE BACK SHORTLY

The truth cannot be buried

There is a very well known scripture in John 8. It reads, “Then you will know the

truth, and the truth will set you free.”

There is nothing you can do to the truth. Many attempts to silence it. Others try to

hide it. But in the process of time, eventually, almost always, will the truth

resurface; in our personal lives, our nation, in the world, anywhere and

everywhere. The truth is simple but powerful. It will always find its way out, and it

will always prevail. The best thing we can do is to align ourselves to the truth.

Currently, there are various developing stories in the news and daily we hear new

evidence, and speculation, surfacing. The US elections are submerged in

controversy and allegations of a flawed election. Then, in South Africa, we have

the ongoing The Judicial Commission of Inquiry into Allegations of State Capture,

also known as the Zondo Commission. I am following it closely and it is

disgraceful and shocking to see how witnesses, appearing in front of the

commission, become so flustered by all their fabricated lies that they won’t even

know the truth even if it is presented to them on a silver platter. There are many

examples I can bore you with, but the truth is something very few still appreciate

and pursue. The truth will eventually come out, it will resurface. Stephanie Klein

said, “Tell the truth, or someone will tell it for you.”

Famous television Judge, Judge Judy, always says that if you tell the truth, then

you don’t have to have a good memory. Similar words to those of Mark Twain.

Politics are often covered with lies. Hardly ever do politicians deliver on their pre-

election promises. Politicians are somehow masters at covering up the truth

about some past deeds. There are countless stories of the infidelity of celebrities

and role models in our society. What was covered up, in the process of time, was

eventually uncovered. You see, the truth cannot be buried; it’s too powerful to be

buried.

Don't let the truth destroy you. The truth is meant to set you free. Do what is right

so you will not need to cover up your tracks.

In closing, let me share the words of Henry David Thoreau, American naturalist,

essayist, poet, and philosopher, who said, “Rather than love, than money, than

fame, give me the truth.”

Verse of the day

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. 3 John 1:4
